Michael Larsen

Senior Consultant

Michael is a Senior Consultant with K. J. Ross and Associates. Michael started his engineering career over ten years ago graduating with a Bachelors of Electrical Engineering with honours from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Michael has worked in every phase of the SDLC and Systems Engineering Lifecycle from proposal, requirements, design, development, integration, verification, validation and maintenance.

Michael follows the Systems Engineering goal “Are we building the right system and are we building the system right”. He has worked for two fortune 100 companies in telecommunications and defence over the past ten years.

Although Michael has worked in every phase of the SDLC, his passion is getting the right requirements for the right system. Over the last few years he has worked extensively with Behaviour Tree Analysis (BTA) to complement his experience in requirements elicitation, requirements analysis and requirements management.

BTA is a methodology to graphically model and analyse textual requirements that has shown a significant increase in identifying requirements issue early in the SDLC.

Michael believes if the testing activities of a project are to be successful then the requirements must be documented in some form be it in a tool, document, or test case. In addition, the requirements must be analysed to remove as many issues as early as possible in the SDLC. Finally, the requirements need to be communicated and managed through out the SDLC, including maintenance.
