SMART Cat enables users to continuously test their applications over the internet, to obtain feedback on continued correct and accurate operation, suitable performance, and availability measurement. Testing an application shouldn't stop once it goes into production. There are many reasons why you application may fail in production:

  • System and Network Downtime
  • Production Resources Exhausted, e.g. File and Database Stores Filled Up
  • Changing System Configuration
  • New changes and Releases Break
  • Hacking Rendering Applications Unusable
  • Capacity of Application Overloaded

Unlike other services on the market, SMART Cat is more than just a monitoring tool that "pings" your application to see it is alive. SMART Cat is a fully featured test environment than enables you to test complete user scenarios and acceptance tests. You can transmit data just like a real user and test that the responses back from the application are correct and provided in a reasonable response time.

SMART Cat can do more than just test web application, in fact any application on the internet could be tested using SMART Cat. SMART Cat currently has support for testing a wide variety of open-protocol applications (such as HTTP, HTTPS, XML, Soap, Email, Telnet, or even custom TCP/IP applications). Contact us to discuss any specific protocol requirements for your application. You may find that we can easily tailor a test to support even your custom or proprietary protocols.

The SMART Cat service is offered via a web interface. This allows you to access your application's statistics, change test scripts, or print detailed reports from anywhere. The system also allows for different account types, from guest to developer accounts. This allows a client to provide a guest account to others to view their applications statistics without fear of test scripts being altered.

Once the SMART Cat tests are setup the user can be notified of failures as they occur. This enables user to minimise downtime of their applications by taking immediate remedial action. The notification methods are currently either email or SMS messaging.
