Software Test Analysis and Design

Overview

One of the key skills that differentiate between a good tester and a professional tester is the ability to analyse and carefully design tests that will rigorously exercise a particular function or feature.

This course leads attendees through the software development and testing process, understanding how a test analyst integrates and adds value to the project, by the assessment and critiquing of specifications, through to black box test design and hence the creation of test scripts that comprehensively and unambiguously implement the designed test cases.

Both the organisation and the individual benefit from improved test design skills; understanding of coverage assessment is increased, a more focused testing methodology is created and the ability to report more objectively on test progress and results.

One key outcome is the improved consistency of the test cases designed by test analysts, meaning there is far greater confidence in the testing approach, and outcomes can be guaranteed.

The development of these skills allows an organisation to place greater responsibility on the testing group, develop the maturity of the testing organisation and assist in the implementation of the vision of independent testing.
