Our Certified Software Test Professional (CSTP)® Foundation Course comprises the first phase of the overall CSTP Programme®.The full CSTP Programme® comprises 11 modules and involves a combination of skills development, assessment and workplace accreditation that qualifies graduates as test professionals and recognises your capabilities as a software testing specialist.

Module 1 - Test Fundamentals, Life Cycles and Strategies
This module focuses on the fundamentals of software testing and defines key terminology and processes and is your first step toward being a Certified Software Test Professional.Student will review motivations for software testing, and develop an appreciation of costs and benefits of test so that they can justify expenditure to management. You will review different types of testing and understand how testing processes fit in with other software development processes.
You will also learn how to develop a strategy for testing individual applications, which includes undertaking risk assessments for applications, and initial proposals for test activities and tasks, and estimates of environment, budget and schedule implications.
Module 2 - Test Design Techniques
This module covers techniques for developing test cases for applications. It focuses on 'black-box' or system/functional testing approaches.Test Design Techniques help testers derive test cases that are effective at finding defects using systematic and repeatable approaches.
A number of test design techniques will be covered in this course including: Functional Analysis, Use-Case Driven Testing, Equivalence Classes and Boundary Values, State-Transition Testing, Decision Testing, Syntax Testing, Database Testing and Forms Testing.
Module 3 - Testware, Test Process & Documentation
This module focuses on the building blocks of software testing: its core processes, documentation, and associated testware (test items, platforms, scripts, data).This module looks at how testing processes are defined, controlled and recorded. Documentation formats for supporting the test processes are reviewed, including those proposed by standards. Environment requirements for supporting testing are reviewed, including infrastructure required for building a test laboratory. Finally the module looks at how the defects found during testing are recorded, tracked and managed.
Upon completion of the CSTP Foundation phase, students may elect to continue onto the CSTP® Advanced phase.
